SRS Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment
1. Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment - Inspect

NOTE:
Before doing any SRS repairs after a collision, check the deployed history and check for DTCs with the HDS to determine the components that need replacement.
Do not repair damaged SRS wiring, connectors or terminals. Replace the affected wiring harness(es).
When replacing the front seat belt tensioner, check the seat belt mounting portion for deformation. If any deformation is found, repair it as needed.

After a collision where the front seat belt tensioners deployed, replace these items:
SRS unit
Front seat belt(s)
Front impact sensor(s)

After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
SRS unit
Deployed front airbag(s)
Front seat belt(s)
Front impact sensor(s)
Cable reel (deployed driver's airbag)
Dashboard (deployed front passenger's airbag)

After a collision where the side airbag deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
SRS unit
Deployed side airbag(s)
Front seat belt(s)
Side impact sensor(s) (first)
Side impact sensor(s) (second)
Rear side trim panel (2-door)
B-pillar lower trim (4/5-door)
Seat frame and related parts

After a collision where the side curtain airbag deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
SRS unit
Deployed side curtain airbag(s)
Front seat belt(s)
Side impact sensor(s) (first)
Side impact sensor(s) (second)
A-pillar trim
B-pillar upper trim
Quarter pillar trim (2-door)
C-pillar trim (4/5-door)
All grab handles
All related trim clips
Sunvisor
Headliner

After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. Replace the pillar trims and related clips as needed.

During the repair process, inspect these areas:
Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses, connectors or terminals.
Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel.

After the vehicle is completely repaired, turn the vehicle to the ON mode. If the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off, the SRS is OK. If the indicator does not function properly, use the HDS to check for the DTCs. If you cannot retrieve a code, do the SRS Symptom Troubleshooting.

2. Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap - Check

Checking and Adjusting the Headliner/Pillar Trim Overlap

To prevent the side curtain airbag from deploying and damaging the pillar trim (A-pillar trim, B-pillar upper trim, quarter pillar trim (2-door), and/or C-pillar trim (4/5-door)), the overlap between the headliner and pillar trim must be 8.0 ?0/?3.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.118 in). To check the overlap, do this:

1.
Install the headliner (A) and the pillar trim (B).

2.
Apply masking tape (C) to the headliner to mark the upper edge (D) of the pillar trim.

3.
Remove the pillar trim, and measure the headliner overlap.

If the overlap is 8.0 ?0/?3.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.118 in), remove the tape, and install the pillar trim.
If the overlap is more than 8.0 mm (0.315 in), go to step 4.

4.
Carefully trim the headliner with a utility knife, reducing the overlap to 8.0 ?0/?3.0 mm (0.315 ?0/?0.118 in).

5.
Remove the tape, and install the pillar trim.
